There was a District Meeting at the VFW post at Wahoo, Sunday, January 27.  The meeting was well attended, and a delicious meal was served.

CONGRATULATIONS !

We discussed some bills important to veterans that are being considered by the Nebrasaka Legislature.  Our members are encouraged  to provide their input to our representatives about them.

LB 153     Reduce taxes for all retired military.
LB 297    Add 30 beds to the Belleview Veterans Home.
LB 192     Changes the legal definition of a veteran - removes the minum of   90day active duty limit.

A proposed bill to remove license plate fees for disabled veterans was discussed.

We were also reminded of the effort to get the Blue Water Navy Veterans Act passed.  It will direct the Veterans Administration to pay for the  treatment of Navy veterans who were exposed to Agent Orange during the Vietnam War.
Other things we were reminded of:
Vietnam Veterans Day will be observed in March.  More on this later.
Our next meeting will be April 7 at Lincoln.
