COMBAT CAMERA: THE WOMEN BEHIND THE LENS

Combat Camera: The Women Behind the Lens,will pair official photographs from applicants’ officially released military experience with images selected from their personal work. By pairing declassified official and personal civilian images, the exhibit will provide the public with a unique perspective on the personal and professional intersections of women serving in our military.

The exhibit is sponsored by Tulane University’s School of Professional Advancement through the Department of Emergency and Security Studies and the Department of Digital Design in partnership with the New Orleans Photo Alliance. Funding for the exhibition printing and framing has been generously provided by the Tulane Provost’s office Lavin Bernik Faculty Grant.

To our knowledge, this is the first exhibition of its kind and we are inviting you to assist in the effort to reach as many eligible women as possible to apply. Our goal is to recognize and promote the women serving in all branches of the U.S. Military and share their perspectives with the community. In addition to an exhibition of prints in the New Orleans Photo Alliance Gallery in New Orleans, LA, the exhibit will be made available in a digitalslideshowinonline ready video formatto military bases, VA hospitals, Tulane University’s School of Professional Advancement campuses,and other locationsTBAnationally.

KEY DATES:The application deadline isMarch 1, 2018. The exhibition will open to the public on Thursday,April 19, 2018, in conjunction with Fleet Week 2018 New Orleans as part of theTricentennialNOLA Navy Week and Tall Ships of America.
