The Yutan VFW sponsored an event to celebrate the girls basketball team’s victory in the State High School Girls Basketball Tournament. The team members, their families and members of our community were invited. Pizza donated and cheese sticks donated by Cubby’s were provided for all. Two delicious cakes were provided for desert. While we ate, we watched a twenty minute video of highlights of games they played.
Members of the team gave inspirational, often humorous stories about their experiences. How they were able to do their very best, be strong, and never give up. They thanked the people whose support helped them to win.
Trophies and awards were handed out to all of the team members, to the head coach, Clay Carlton, and for the Team Mom, Amy Tichota. A special trophy was given for most valuable player, Mylee Tichota. Maura Tichota was honored for scoring 1000 career points in her four high school years. The team voiced their appreciation to our chapter for putting the event on.
We had a very good turnout and we all enjoyed the celebration.
