Teen from Nebraska in the Running to Win a $30,000 Scholarship from the VFW!

Dear Steven,

It’s incredibly inspiring to hear high school students take pride in America.

Young people all across the nation recorded audio essays on "What Makes America Great” for the Voice of Democracy competition. One winner from each state has been chosen and now qualifies for the grand prize — a $30,000 scholarship!

Listen to the top essays, including the winner from Nebraska.

The grand-prize winner will be announced at the VFW Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C. Watch a live stream of the Parade of Winners on March 2, at 6 p.m. (EST) to see who wins.

Help us celebrate the next generation of proud Americans as they compete for more than $2.1 million total in scholarships and incentives. Please share the audio clips with your family and friends.
