VFW, Trace Adkins Announce Special Performance at VFW National Convention

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (May 15, 2018) –The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. (VFW) is proud to announce country music legend Trace Adkins will be performing live at Municipal Auditorium during the 119th VFW National Convention in Kansas City onJuly 22.

"One of my greatest honors as an entertainer is to perform for our nation's servicemen and women,” said Adkins. "They sacrifice so much for this country and our freedoms. Performing for them and their families at events like this is certainly special.”

The "Still A Soldier” singer is well-known for his support of America’s service members and veterans, having performed across 12 USO tours over his career. The three-time GRAMMY Award nominee and three-time ACM Award winner recently released this 12th studio album and has sold more than 11 million records throughout his storied career.

"The VFW is very pleased to present our convention attendees, and the local military and veteran community with this special event,” said VFW National Commander Keith Harman. "Trace has long advocated on behalf of America’s heroes. So, not only am I looking forward to his performance, I am also looking forward to presenting him with the VFW Commander-in-Chief Gold Medal of Merit in honor of all he does in support of our nation’s troops, veterans and their families.”

Opening the event at7 p.m.is Six-String Soldiers, a part of the United States Army Field Band and one of the most followed groups in the world. Made up of five active-duty soldiers, the acoustic group performs bluegrass, country, folk and Americana music.

Sunday’sconcert is a free, ticketed event sponsored by Texas VFW Foundation, Lockton Affinity, Cerner, Truman Library Institute and Park University.

VFW and VFW Auxiliary members can request two (2) reserved seats, or four (4) general admission seats by calling the VFW’s Member Service Center at 1-833-VFW-VETS. (Have your VFW Membership number ready before the call)

While concert tickets are offered free of charge, attendees are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item to donate to the"Uniting to Combat Hunger”campaign, a collaborative initiative by the VFW, Humana, Harvesters–The Community Food Network and After the Harvest, to help combat food insecurity in the Greater Kansas City area.
